GENERAL INFORMATION

What are cookies and what are they used for

A cookie is a text file that a website visited by the user sends to their terminal (computer, mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet), where it is stored to be retransmitted to that site during a subsequent visit to the same site.

Cookies are distinguished from each other:

  • based on the entity that installs them, depending on whether it is the same operator of the visited site (c.d. "first-party cookies") or a different entity (c.d. "third-party cookies");
  • based on the purpose of each cookie: some cookies allow for better navigation by storing certain user choices, such as language (c.d. "technical cookies"), while other cookies allow for monitoring the user's navigation also for the purpose of sending advertisements and/or offering services in line with their preferences (c.d. "profiling cookies").

Only profiling cookies require the user's prior consent for their use.

The Data Controller is solely responsible for the first-party cookies installed by them on the Site.

  • consent preferences are kept for a maximum period of 12 months, after which consent will be requested from the user again, unless they modify or revoke it earlier through the functionalities available on the site.
